Hello and welcome to my latest adventure in accessibility. My name is Hannah and I have been advocating for accessibility and neurodiversity for most of my life. So much so that I have a whole post-graduate certificate in Advancing the AODA from Toronto Metropolitan University. I also am a licensed paralegal, with a focus on employment and human rights law. I am neurodivergent myself and have had my fair share of struggles in the workplace. This is why I decided to start up NeuroDiverse Workplace Consulting. To create a working environment that is accessible to those from the neurodiversity umbrella.
So why me? Why here? Why now?
One of the main issues I have come across at work, is navigating burn-out. This is something that almost everyone can relate to, no matter if you are neurodivergent or neurotypical. Yet, when it comes to neurodivergent people, we have different needs and challenges when it comes to working through burn-out. Not only does burn-out suck to experience when you are the employee, it also causes unnecessary and avoidable stress and cost on the employers side. This can look like high turnover, frequent absences, a lack of productivity and even more so, creates a toxic work environment.
Not only do I have lived experience as a neurodivergent employee, as a paralegal, I have the educational background to back up what I am talking about. I have spent my spare time reading through the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the AODA. I’ve put together trainings on these topics for a variety of audiences; ranging from peer workers all the way to managers. This is my passion.
With NeuroDiverse Workplace Consulting, your company will see real time improvements that come with being a neuroinclusive workplace.
